So, you're gonna quit GW because the CE is a week late?!?

I'm having trouble believing your as "hard core" as you let on...

So far, ArenaNet has done a great job. Complaints about lack of slots? Offer to sell more. Complaint about the 2 bonus slots not being available for Head Start? Done.

Who knows, maybe they'll end up extending the Head Start until the CE comes out, but even if they don't, that won't change my opinion that ANet is a great company.

I would think so also, but gaile has also said that NCsoft provides them the preorders at no charge, so its no loss out of their pocket. I wont raise a stink either way, but I will try to get the 20 off.

Yup yup I'm a pre-buyer, I just got the wrong idea from the thread then, maybe wishful reading
Yeah I'd certainly hope I could apply the $10 I pre-ordered the game with (and got the pre-order box) for the game itself Just started to think I'd stumbled across what would pay for my first extra character slot

If the box included the key... yes!

(No disc? Are you sure?)

Mordakai:

Dude i have argued on your side on the 6 slots issue, and usually I agree with you.

Anet did promise if we bought the CE we get it the 28th. They charged extra for it. I paid for it, now I am waiting for it. I really don't think its such a huge problem if it is delayed a week, such is life. A good bussiness always compensates those they inconvience. So for our wait for the CE, I think anet should give a 10 day grace period for those that have a pre order key and allow people to play as they wish and treat it as a trial period. after 10 days they dont have access to the (2 new) characters for a month and after a month the 2 slots deleted. (that is assuming you dont enter a CD key)

and for those that do enter a CE key (since it was delayed and an extra bonus for waiting and buying the more expensive item from them) between may and june they get an extra ingame item like a cokeplay item or a fancy kangol hat just for those that waited for the CE. They did promise the 28th, they just did not deliver. I am also thinking those that are demanding Anet give them a back rub and 1000 ectos are also crazy. Delays happen. Lighten up, I bet Anet makes good on it.

I agree with you to the most of your point, I had pre ordered the collectors edition the moment it was available, I'm really not kidding here, just to make sure I was one of the first to have it and would definitely have it in time for the preview event (pre order key) and the game as it was supposed to be shipping in time for the starting event. Well, that was clearly not going to happen so I just said to heck with it! Even by a miracle that I hadn't said to hell with it, and stuck with the CE, what kind of a lesson would this teach you for future chapters of GW... "No sense in ordering the pre or the CE, I remember when, blah blah"

As for AN doing an excellent job, I just see it as a big clouded PR firm, tell you whatever they think you want to hear until something is officially said, want more slots? Oh look.. they are willing to pay for those.. 10 bucks a pop. Actually want your game on time? So sorry, nothing we can do there, after 10 days we are going to delete your two extra slots too! How many people do you think will panic and race out to buy the standard edtion as well, while likely, still waiting for their CE to arrive? I bet you AN is banking on that one.

They could easily distribute the actual retail keys to the people who pre ordered the game, so long that the preorder had to have been canceled by a certain time, thus preventing someone from using a key that they hadn't actually paid for. But instead, As people have said before, some of the most devoted people cared enough about the game to shell out 70 dollars and more for the collectors edition, and now they will be held back by a week minimum. How sad is that. All of your guildies and friends are off in the jade sea, and you're looking at tired old ascalon for the 6 billionth time.

As for a hardcore player.. I'm not sure if 1,793 hours determines me as either and I can't speak for anyone else here, but nearly 1800 hours spent playing a game, is no small feat. (actually, quite embarrasing )

As far as I'm concerned, AN burned their fans, not most, but a lot. There will always be the torch bearers for any company, but in this case, AN screwed up, you won't get loyalty with punishment and you certainly won't gain future support with a lack of loyalty.

I pre-ordered both regular Factions and CE... as of now, I still don't see any sign of either production title being shipped. We are one day away from headstart production launch, so even if the titles were to ship out today, my area won't see it in time before merchants shift prices of the new crafting components.

Can ANET please deliver a solution to prevent this shipping fiasco from impacting those who pre-ordered but won't receive the title by launch time? I feel like I'm staring down at the ecto price reset scenario all over again...

you should be able to have her called Visa and tell them that you want to stop payment on that order, it should be able to do that. I don't have a CC, but i beleive that is how it works.

You tell him he's wrong.

If it was solely up to NCSoft the head start would always last more than 24-48 hours, why? Because say what I will about NCSoft, they have a competent marketing arm and a trial period is good marketing.

It seems to me, this comes down to value (again). As in, what does the purchaser value more.

The Head start is a nice way to stagger the player base a little while giving the pre-buyers a little gift.
That head start is important to some as they would like to see the stuff first and have the "oooh, new toy" feel, or simply seeing an area first. I'm like that, so it's not a "knock" - though I'm currently holding off on buying Factions.
This "ooops" in distribution has caused an issue. It's not a huge issue if one really looks at it carefully.

So, which does the player value more? The CE with the "trinkets" or non-stop continuous play from the head start onward.

If I were picking up a copy on the 28th and the CE wasn't in stock, I would simply downgrade my purchase and get the SE version so I wouldn't have to sit around with a finger in my nose waiting for the CE to arrive. The time played is more a value to me then the "trinkets"; and of course I want those new toys first... If enough people were to do this, NCSoft might take more care for future releases as well. hehe

There are of course other reason around for not wanting to be delayed I'm sure. So, my examples and reasons wont fit with everyone.

A stop payment works by you calling the card banker, mastercard, visa, amex, your bank, whoever, and they send you a form you have to fill out, explaining why the charge existed/shouldnt have existed and why it needs to be stopped/should never have been placed. The banker then investigates, and the process can take as long as 45 days. Generally, unless you were at fault, the banker will charge the company back, and redeposit, or credit your card for the initial amount.

As exciting as it is to listen to the two of you go back and forth like that-

Howdy,

I work at Best Buy. For those who are interested in purchasing from Best Buy, at last check (4-25), Best Buy will be receiving the standard units on launch day. The staff might be a little lazy about processing them, so make sure to harass the media employees about checking the media warehouse.

At my store, this is what I have to do. This is, in fact, what I had to do when Prophecies went live.

Unfortunately, no CEs were shown marked for transfer. So either Best Buy will be effected by the delay as well, or there's simply some lazy schmuck at Corporate who hasn't pressed a button yet.

.. and really, folks, the mindset of "beating a game in five days" really shouldn't apply to Guild Wars. Any argument like that is on the same grounds as "LEVEL 20 CAP WTF HOMG?"

If you're playing the game to max the cap, then you're playing the wrong game. If you play the game and beat it in five days and decide to move on, you were playing the wrong game from the get-go.

Talk to customer service and just say that you'd like to apply both pre-orders to one copy of the game.

If they don't allow it, ask to talk to a manager.

Tell the manager EXACTLY what you just said in the quote there.

If the manager says no after hearing that, PM me

If you can burn through factions in 5 days I dont want either. Thats crap to think you can burn through the game in five days. ATI had a 10 day trial key for GW, so it isnt like they have not done this before.
with a limit of less than 15 hours or the number of days whichever comes first.

Quote:
I seriously doubt you can beat the game in 5 days unless you dont have a life. Then you need serious help. Guild wars is not for those people. Mr. T bot has a point and I think it is a fair and valid one. If this game only has 5 days of content chapter 3 will not be in my future.
that was from people playing chapter 1 to see how fast they could finish the missions and needed quests.

they didnt bother with exploring every inch or pvp

less than 5 days.

going into factions they would beat all missions easily in 10 days and with no desire to explore or pvp why should they buy it?

Can someone from ANet PLEASE give us an update? There's no word on the front of guildwars.com...at what point is this issue going to be addressed?

Thank you!
